Common Name: Mountain Cuckoo Carder Bee

Taxonomy

Stelis? monticola Cresson, 1878: 94 [♀].

     Holotype ♀. USA, Colorado, by Ridings [ANSP].

 

Taxonomic Notes: The male has not been described.

Biology: Hicks (1926) recorded this as a nest parasite of Hoplitis fulgida fulgida (Cresson). Hurd (1979; ) incorrectly cite Clement and Rust (1976: ) supporting this association, though the Stelis in that case was not identified.
