Common Name: Maculated Cuckoo Carder Bee

Taxonomy

Heriades maculatum Provancher, 1888: 323 [♀, ♂].

     Lectotype , designated by Sheffield and Perron (2014: 141). CANADA, British Columbia, Vancouver [ULQC no. 905].

 

Taxonomic notes: Sheffield and Perron (2014: 141) indicated that the female specimen, which was examined by Titus (1906) could not be found at ULQC, so the male was selected as the lectotype.

The “Stelis maculata Ashm[mead].” mentioned by Lucas (1899: 344) in reference to the paper by Davidson (1896) represents a lapsus of Stelis 6-maculata Asmead, 1896 = Stelis sexmaculata Ashmead, 1896.
