Taxonomy

Sphecodes atlantis Mitchell, 1956: 221 [♀, ♂].

     Holotype ♀. USA, North Carolina, Mt. Mitchell, 2 July 1941, by T.B. Mitchell [USNM no. 75232].

 

Taxonomic Notes: Mitchell (1956: 222) had some doubts as to whether or not the sexes were associated properly, though did not comment futher in his subsequent treatment (i.e., Mitchell 1960: 476).
