Taxonomy
Osmia austromaritima Michener, 1936: 43 [♂].
Holotype ♂. USA, California, Los Angeles County, San Pedro Hills, 22 February 1929 [Michener Collection, while in Pasadena].
Osmia (Acanthosmioides) hurdi White, 1952 : 273 [♀]. Synonymy by Rightmyer et al. (2013: 568).
Holotype ♀. USA, California, Lassen County, Black’s Mountain, 13 June 1941, by C.D. Michener [SEMC no. 4493].
DNA Barcode Index Number (BIN): BOLD:AAI1802, BOLD:AAI1803
The two BIN’s, both from the USA, suggest variability in this species, or misidentification. BIN BOLD:AAI1802 is represented by three specimens from Utah, BOLD:AAI1803 from California, the state of the type locality for both O. autsromaritima Michener and O. hurdi White.
