Scientific Name: Nomada tiftonensis Cockerell, 1903

Common Name: Tifton Nomada Cuckoo Bee

Taxonomy

Nomada (Micronomada) tiftonensis Cockerell, 1903: 610 [♂].

Syntypes . USA, Georgia, Tifton [ANSP no. 10165].

Nomada (Micronomada) modesta var. rivertonensis Cockerell 1903: 610 [♀]. Synonymy by Droege et al. (2010: 23).

Holotype . USA, New Jersey, Riverton, 31 August [no year provided], by H.L. Viereck [ANSP no. 10158].

Taxonomic Notes: Droege et al. (2010: 22) indicated a holotype for N. tiftonensis Cockerell, but there is no clear indication that one of the two specimens described by Cockerell (1903: 610) from the same location was ever designated.

Mitchell (1962: 355) considered both taxa listed above as synonymies of N. heiligbrodtii Cresson (= N. texana Cresson), though Droege et al. (2010: 22) reinstated N. tiftonensis Cockerell as a valid species, with N. modesta rivertonensis Cockerell placed into synonymy (Droege et al. 2010: 23).

Distribution in Canada: Droege et al. 2010 [ON].

Body length: ♂ 7 mm
