Taxonomy

Melecta pacifica Cresson, 1878: 91 [♂].

     Lectotype [designated by Cresson 1916: 127]. USA, California, by H. Edwards [ANSP no. 2288].

Melecta (Melecta) atlantica Linsley, 1943: 225 [♀]. Synonymy of M. pacifica Cresson by Michener (1954: 120, as subspecies).

     Holotype . USA, Georgia, Kennesaw Mt., 26 April 1936, by P.W. Fattig [USNM?].

 

Taxonomic Notes: Linsley (1939a: 440) incorrectly recorded the catalogue number of M. pacifica Cresson as 2270, which corresponds to Anthorphora pacifica Cresson, the entry immediate above (Cresson 1916: 127).
