Lasioglossum vierecki (Crawford, 1904)
Properties
Scientific Name: Lasioglossum vierecki (Crawford, 1904)
Common Name: Viereck s Sweat Bee
Taxonomy
Halictus vierecki Crawford, 1904: 97 [♀].
Holotype ♀. USA, New Jersey, Clementon, 6 June [no year provided], by H.L. Viereck [ANSP: 10206].
Taxonomic Notes: The ♂ was described by Graenicher (1910: 158).
Gibbs (2010: 346, 2011: 207) recorded the year of collection as 1830, which is unlikely. Crawford (1904: 98) did not provide a year of collection for most of the type material, which was collected by H.L. Viereck [1881-1931]. It is likely that the “30” associated with the date June 6 was mistaken for the year, thought it is in reference to the number of ♀ specimens collected (1830 would have been 50+ years before the birth of Viereck).
