Taxonomy
Halictus tegularis Robertson, 1890: 318 [♀, ♂].
Lectotype ♀, designated by Cresson (1928: 65). USA, Connecticut, N. Haven, 6 June 1878, by W.H. Patton [ANSP no. 4254].
Taxonomic notes: The lectotype designation of Gibbs (2011: 196) for H. tegularis Robertson was not required, as Cresson (1928: 65) had already selected and designated the same specimen.

This BIN is shared with other members of the Lasioglossum gemmatum (aka tegulare) species complex (Gardner and Gibbs 2023), including L. coactus (Cresson, 1872), L. profundum Gardner and Gibbs, 2023, and L. puteulanum Gibbs, 2009; of these, only L. tegulare only has been recorded from Canada (Gardner and Gibbs 2023).
