Taxonomy

Halictus oceanicus Cockerell, 1916: 11 [♀].

     Holotype . USA, New Jersey, Ocean Grove, 12 July 1893 [USNM no. 27769].

Dialictus advertus Mitchell, 1960: 433 [♂]. Synonymy by Gibbs (2010: 223).

     Holotype♂. USA, Massachusetts, Reading, 23 July 1933, by R. Dow [NCSU].

Lasioglossum (Dialictus) nymphaearum (Robertson, 1895), sensu auct.

 

Taxonomic notes: This species has typically been referred to as L. nymphaearum, which was proposed as a replacement for Halictus palustris Robertson, 1890 which is a primary homonymy of H. palustris Morawitz, 1876. The lectotype specimen for H. palustris selected by Cresson (1928: 63) belongs to the species L. albipenne (Robertson, 1890). The name L. oceanicum, previously considered a junior synonym of L. nymphaearum, was resurrected by Gibbs (2010: 223).
