Taxonomy

*Hoplitis (Alcidamea) grinnelli septentrionalis Michener, 1947: 291 [♂, ♀].

     Holotype ♂. CANADA, British Columbia, Salmon Arm, 20 June 1925, by A.A. Dennis [CNC].

 

Taxonomic notes: Michener (1947: 291) distinguished this northern subspecies from the typical form from the southwestern United States based on the darker tegula.

Biology: Michener (1947: 270) indicated the study of the nesting biology of H. producta (Cresson, 1864) of Davidson (1896) was likely in reference to H. grinnelli (Cockerell, 1910). Frolich et al. (1988) reported this species using trap nests.
