Protandrena illinoiensis (Cresson, 1878)

Properties

Scientific Name: Protandrena illinoiensis (Cresson, 1878)

Common Name: Protandrena illinoiensis

Taxonomy

Calliopsis Illinoiensis Cresson, 1878: 66 [♂].

Lectotype ♂, designated by Cresson (1916: 120). USA, Illinois [ANSP no. 2196].

Taxonomic notes: The ♀ was keyed by Crawford (1932: 76), though described in detail by Mitchell (1960: 274) as Pseudopanurgus (Heterosarus) illinoiensis (Cresson). Though Bradley (1942: 190) felt Protandrena (Pterosarus). compositarum (Robertson) was a synonym of P. illinoiensis (listed as such by Michener 1951: 1099), Mitchell (1960: 273) felt this was done in error, so is not included here.

Distribution in Canada: Mitchell 1960 [QC]; Krombein 1967 [QC].
