Species Notes: It is likely that specimens from eastern North America identied as C. mandibularis are probably this species. Although the type locality for C. speculiferus was listed as "North Japan" by Cockerell (1927b), Kuhlmann and Ascher (2010) examined the type material, provided discussion on type location, and synonymized C. mitchelli with this species. Though no Canadian material was examined by Kuhlmann and Ascher (2010), we assume that the previously reported accounts of C. mandibularis from (Mitchell 1960, Woodcock et al. 2014) or suspected (Romankova 2003) from eastern Canada are this species.
