Taxonomic notes: Records of this species from Manitoba likely represent C. andrewsi Cockerell, 1906 (see Stephen 1954: 283), as was the case for material identified as C. aestivalis Patton, 1879 by Graenicher (1935: 302) (see Stephen 1954: 281).

DNA Barcode Index Number (BIN): N/A

BiologyColletes aestivalis is an oligolege of Heuchera (Fogel et al. 2023).

Distribution in Canada: Criddle et al. 1924 [MB]; Michener 1951 [MB]; Romankova 2003 [ON].

Stephen (1954: 283) indicated that this species likely did not range further west than southern Illinois, and though he did not record it from eastern Canada, the records of Romankova (2003: 99) are plausable. As discussed above, records of this species from Manitoba likely represent C. andrewsi, so are not included.

Forewing length: ♀ 7.5 mm ♂ 7.5 mm
