Biology

The nesting biology of two of the subspecies was studied by Parker (1975) who trap-nested them in pre-bored elderberry stems with diameters of 2-6 mm; stem diameter influencing nest construction. Parker indicated that this species provisioned its nest with pollen of Hydrophyllaceae. A number of nest associates were also recorded by Parker (1975).
