Taxonomy

Heriades (?) cubiceps Cresson, 1879: 205 [♀].

     Syntypes ♀. USA, Nevada, by [H.K.] Morrison [ANSP no. 2246]. This is supported also on the USMN page.

Titusella clypeata Michener, 1936: 93 [♀]. SYnonymy by Michener (1939: 56), as a subspecies of A. cubiceps (Cresson).

     Holotype ♀. USA, California, Los Angeles Co., Eagle Rock Hills, 14 April 1933, by C.D. Michener, ex. Rhamnus crocea [CAS no. ].

 

Taxonomic Notes: The ♂ of A. cubiceps clypeata Michener was first described by Michener (1939: 56). Ashmeadiella cubiceps clypeata Michener, 1936 is a valid subspecies known from California and Oregon (Michener 1936, 1939), but only the typical form occurs in Canada (Sheffield and Heron 2019).
