Taxonomy

Trachandrena obscura Robertson, 1902: 189, key [♀]. Preoccupied, not Apis obscura Linnaeus, 1764 [= Andrena marginata Fabricius,1776].

     Holotype ♀. USA, Illinois, Carlinville, 16 July 1897, by C. Robertson, on Pycanthemum linifolium [INHS, Robertson no. 19897].

Andrena (Trachandrena) virginiana Mitchell, 1960: 203 [♀].

     Holotype ♀. USA, Virginia, Bancroft, 17 June 1917, by W.L. McAtee, on Ceanothus americanus [USNM no. 66073].

Andrena obscurida Warncke 1970: 30. New named for Trachandrena obscura Robertson, 1902. Synonymy by LaBerge (1973: 274).

 

Taxonomic notes: The ♂ was described by LaBerge (1973: 275).
