Andrena saccata Viereck, 1904
Properties
Scientific Name: Andrena saccata Viereck, 1904
Common Name: Andrena saccata
Taxonomy
Andrena saccata Viereck, 1904, in Viereck et al. 1904:192, 224 [♀, ♂].
Lectotype ♀, designated by Cresson (1928: 64). USA, Oregon, Corvallis, 8 June 1898 [ANSP no. 4111]
Taxonomic notes: Though LaBerge (1980: 515) indicates a holotype female, it should be a lectotype (Cresson 1928: 64); Viereck et al. (1904) did not specifically select a specimen, or at least provide enough information to distinguish a single specimen from the multiple ♀s from the type locality (three dates from 1897 to 1899, the ♂‚ with no data) in the syntype series.
DNA Barcode Index Number (BIN): N/A
Biology: Kathirithamby and Taylor (2005) report this species as a host to the strepsipteran Stylops apicalis Bohart.
Distribution in Canada: Criddle et al. 1924 [BC]; LaBerge 1980 [BC]; Elwell 2012 [BC]; Sheffield and Heron 2019 [BC].
