The only Canadian records of this species come from Knerer and Atwood (1964: 50) as Andrena votula Mitchell, and LaBerge (1973: 353). Knerer and Atwood reported on a single female specimen collected on Salix sp. from Hastings [Co.], Ontario, and indicated that little was known about the species, and that the male was undescribed. Their comment that it “was identified under this name” would suggest that there was some level of uncertainly of this identification. Andrena votula was later synonymized under A. rehni Viereck by LaBerge (1973: 349), who also included the single record from Knerer and Atwood (1964), and also recorded it from Montreal, Quebec. Unfortunately, neither study reported any further information on the specimens, though Knerer and Atwood (1964) indicated that the specimens they reported on (included A. votula) were in the CNC, ROM, ON Agricultural College (presumably U of Guelph), and in their personal collection. Until the specimens are found, the two records from Canada should be taken tentatively, though certainly it has been found in adjacent USA. Based on the publication dates (1964, 1973), it would seem reasonable to conclude that, if these specimens are identified correctly, the species has not been collected in Canada since, at the latest, the 1960s, perhaps even earlier.
