Andrena buckelli Viereck, 1924

Properties

Scientific Name: Andrena buckelli Viereck, 1924

Common Name: Buckell's Miner Bee

Taxonomy

*Andrena (Andrena) buckelli Viereck 1924: 22 [♂, ♀].

Hototype ♀ [not ♂]. CANADA, British Columbia, Penticton, 25 May 1919 [June 9, 1919], by E.R. Buckell [CNC no. 651].

Taxonomic notes: LaBerge (1980: 512) noted that Viereck (1924: 23) incorrectly indicated that the holotype was ♂, but Viereck also incorrectly recorded label data for his published treatment of this material, specifically the allotype and holotype specimens. The date he recorded for the “holotype” ♂, 9 June 1919 should be 9 May 1919; this specimen is labelled as the allotype. The data recorded for the “allotype” [i.e., ♀, mistakenly recorded as ♂] of 25 April 1919 corresponds to the labelled holotype, which was examined by LaBerge (1980). LaBerge (1980: 512) suggests a date of 25 April 1919.

DNA Barcode Index Number (BIN): N/A
